Multiple states are under winter weather advisories and could see inches of snow. Florida and other parts of the south are suffering with unusual cold

Heavy snow and blustery winds are likely to create problems on the roads, with the NWS warning that some roads will be “impassable,” urging drivers to slow down, especially during their morning and evening commutes. Thick snow and high winds could also bring down tree branches and damage power lines, leading to possible power outages.

The Giants should prepare for a harsh day of winter weather when they face off against the Bears at Soldier Field. A cold front brings rain, snow and wind chills that could dip into the single digits (1 p.m. EST).

A harsh drop in temperatures is being delivered to the eastern two thirds of the U.S. thanks to a polar vortex dipping down from the Arctic.

More than 10 inches of snow was expected to fall in some areas south and west of Lake Michigan. The cold system was expected to move further east on Tuesday.

Winter storm warnings spanned Mono County, as well as the Sierra Nevada from Yosemite National Park to Tulare County.

Talk about a winter preview with a blast of cold air Tuesday across Boston and New England. Highs struggled to reach the 40s, with plenty of areas remaining in the 30s as snow showers and flurries stretched across the region. A few flurries made their way as far east as the Interstate 95 corridor.

Rain and snow showers are forecast across parts of western and northern Pennsylvania today, accompanied by breezy conditions with wind gusts reaching 20 to 30 mph. Temperatures will remain below average, ranging from the upper 30s in northern regions to the lower 50s southeast of Interstate 81.
